Use Food to Boost Your Mood

Most of us have been taught to think that comfort foods are bad and are to be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this is true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be completely nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. Several foods really do improve your mood when you consume them. When you feel a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, try a couple of these.

Eggs, would you believe, are fantastic for helping you combat depression. Just be sure that you do not throw out the egg yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, especially the egg yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. These B vitamins are fantastic for helping to improve your mood. This is because the B vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Try to eat an egg and feel a lot better!

Make several trail mix of nuts or seeds. Your mood can be raised by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to increase your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good chemical that directs the brain how to feel at any given time. The more serotonin you have, the happier you are going to feel. Not only that, nuts, particularly, are a terrific source of protein.

Cold water fish are good if you want to feel happier. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that truly help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can seriously raise your mood.

Some grains are actually excellent for driving away bad moods. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are terrific at helping you be happier. These foods fill you up better and that can help improve your moods also. It’s easy to feel a little bit off when you feel hungry! The reason these grains help your mood so much is that they are not difficult for your stomach to digest. You digest them faster than other things which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise.

Green tea is fantastic for moods. You were just waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has discovered that this amino acid promotes the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while also loosening up the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you become better. Now you know that green tea can improve your mood also!

You can see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are bad for you to feel better! Try several of these instead!
