The symptoms of PANDAS start suddenly, about four to six weeks after a strep infection. They include behaviors similar to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and Tourette syndrome. But with the increase in children's mental and behavioral disorders, taking a deeper look may be needed. The strep bacteria which produce post-infectious sequelae, such as PANDAS, are often not symptomatic for pharyngitis; they produce minimal or no symptoms of sore throat, fever, abdominal pain, etc, so the infections go undetected and untreated for prolonged periods of time. PANDAS is short for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections. A child may be diagnosed with PANDAS when: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), tic disorder, or both suddenly appear following a streptococcal (strep) infection, such as strep throat or scarlet fever.

Foods That Make You Happy
Mostly, people have been taught to think that “comfort” foods are bad for the body and have to be avoided. Sometimes, if your comfort food is basically candy or other junk foods, this is true. Soemtimes, comfort foods can be utterly nutritious and good for us to eat. Some foods actually do raise your mood when you eat them. If you are feeling a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these.
Eggs, would you believe, are wonderful for helping you fight depression. You should make sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that matters most in terms of helping you cheer up. Eggs, the yolks in particular, are loaded with B vitamins. B vitamins can be fantastic for boosting your mood. This is because they help in bettering the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that dictate your mood. Consume an egg and cheer up!
Put together some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera are all fantastic for helping to boost your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have lots of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that tells the brain how to feel at any given point in time. The more you have of it, the better you will feel. Not only that but nuts, in particular, are a fantastic source of protein.
If you wish to fight depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all full of omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These are two things that raise the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can actually help you overcome depression.
Grains can be good for fighting a terrible mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly great for helping raise your happiness levels. They help you feel full as well which can actually help to improve your mood. Feeling starved can be a real downer! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s easy for your body to digest them. You digest these grains more quickly than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise.
Your mood can truly be helped by green tea. You were just waiting to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid essentially induces brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while also calming the rest of your body. You were already aware that that green tea helps you feel better. Now you know green tea can help improve your mood as well!
As you can see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Try a couple of of these suggestions instead.
