Foods That Can Make You Happy

Most of us believe that comfort foods are bad for us and that we have to keep away from them. Often, if your comfort food is essentially candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be super healthy and good for you. There are several foods that actually can improve your moods when you consume them. If you are feeling a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try a number of these.

Eggs, you may be astonished to discover, are terrific at fighting depression. Just see to it that you don’t throw away the yolk. When you would like to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg. Eggs, the yolk especially, are high in B vitamins. B vitamins can genuinely help you raise your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–run better. Try to eat an egg and feel a lot happier!

Put together a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all terrific for helping to elevate your mood. This is possible since these foods have a bunch of magnesium which raises your production of serotonin. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” chemical substance and it tells your brain how you should be feeling day in and day out. The more serotonin you have, the better you are going to feel. Not just that, nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein food source.

Cold water fish are good if you wish to feel better. Cold water fish including tuna, trout and wild salmon are high in DHA and omega-3 fats. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly elevate your mood.

Some grains are really wonderful for fighting off bad moods. Barley, millet, quinoa, etc are terrific at helping you have a happier mood. These foods fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods as well. Feeling starved can be awful! These grains can elevate your mood because it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps bring up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Your mood can truly be helped by green tea. You were just anticipating to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is rich in an amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has found that this amino acid induces the production of brain waves. This helps focus your mental energy while simultaneously making the rest of your body more relaxed. You probably already knew it is not difficult to get healthy when you drink green tea. Now you know that it helps you to raise your moods also!

You can see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are terrible for you just so to feel better! Try these tips instead!
